The Haverford College women s cross country team was one of 16 teams selected for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The Fords are ranked 35th in the country heading into next weekend's Mideast Regional at DeSales.

The Fords have placed first or second in 17 of the conference's previous 24 championship meets.

Katie Sullivan (pictured, first-team) and Nicole Giannetti (second-team, scholar-athlete of the year) were both named to the all-conference team for their respective finishes.

The Fords held their spot in the Mideast Regional rankings but fell one spot in the national poll.

The No. 25 Fords placed 15th overall in a field that featured numerous teams expected to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships at the end of November.

Former women s track & field and cross country standout Jen Maranzano 94 recently completed the Chicago Marathon in a time of 2:49:21. That time placed her second overall in her age group and was the highest American finisher in her age group.

The Fords held their third place ranking in the Mideast Regional and will get to test out the course they will see at the Mideast Regional this Saturday with the running of the DeSales Invitational.

Running without many of its usual top seven finishers who were getting ready for the Rowan Inter-Regional meet, the Fords placed 12th overall a field of 35 teams at the same course where the Mideast Regional will be contested.

The Fords will compete at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday.
